Router Setup Wikis for Windows Home Server and Small Business Server Published

Microsoft have published two Wiki articles on TechNet to support Windows Home Server and Small Business Server users configuring their router. Whilst both platforms have the ability to automatically configure UPnP routers, the wide variety of routers out there with differing implementations of the standard leads to inconsistent results.

Each guide provides step by step walk throughs for the manual configuration of a number of popular routers, plus a general guide for other owners. Links to sites with relevant help and support are also provided, and readers are encouraged to contribute their own tips to the wiki.

WHS – Referenced Account is Currently Locked Out

For some reason when I booted into windows 7, it was unable to map my windows home server network drive. I hadn’t changed anything on WHS, but I was getting the error … The referenced account is currently locked out and may not be logged on to. I Looked in the WHS Console, and my account that I use to connect to the share was Enabled, so it must have been something else. A quick google showed that other people have had a problem but no clear solution. I decided to use Remote Desktop Connection to connect to the WHS and look at the user account, and a few moments later I was back in business.

Here’s how to solve it:

1. Open a remote desktop connection to your Windows Home Server computer, and be sure to log in as administrator (should be same password you use when logging into the WHS Console).
2. Once at the desktop and Internet Explorer pops up (it usually does), just close it.
3. Open the start menu, right click on My Computer and go to Manage.
4. In the left “Tree View” double click on Local Users and Groups, then double click on the Users folder.
5. In the right pane a list of all user accounts should be populated, some you will recognize, some you won’t. Anyways locate the account you are trying to “Unlock”, mine was Marf. Right click the account, and go to properties.
6. Then you will see a little checkbox in the bottom of the window that says “Account is Locked Out”, uncheck this box, click okay.
7. Now you can minimize the Remote desktop Connection and try to connect to the share \\yourshare from your actual PC, if it works, then you can go to Start Menu and Log Off.

Enjoy!

50 Common Question for Interview Q&A

Review these typical interview questions and think about how you would
answer them. Read the questions listed; you will also find some
strategy suggestions with it.

1. Tell me about yourself:
The most often asked question in interviews. You need to have a short statement prepared in your mind. Be careful that it does not sound
rehearsed. Limit it to work-related items unless instructed otherwise. Talk about things you have done and jobs you have held that relate to
the position you are interviewing for. Start with the item farthest back and work up to the present.

2. Why did you leave your last job?
Stay positive regardless of the circumstances. Never refer to a major problem with management and never speak ill of supervisors, co-workers
or the organization. If you do, you will be the one looking bad. Keep smiling and talk about leaving for a positive reason such as an
opportunity, a chance to do something special or other forward-looking reasons.

3. What experience do you have in this field?
Speak about specifics that relate to the position you are applying for. If you do not have specific experience, get as close as you can.

4. Do you consider yourself successful?
You should always answer yes and briefly explain why. A good explanation is that you have set goals, and you have met some and are
on track to achieve the others.

5. What do co-workers say about you?
Be prepared with a quote or two from co-workers. Either a specific statement or a paraphrase will work. Jill Clark, a co-worker at Smith
Company, always said I was the hardest workers she had ever known. It is as powerful as Jill having said it at the interview herself.

Ultrasn0w 3.0 Unlock for iPhone 3G Ready For Download

They’ve finally delivered: the Dev Team has released the Ultrasn0w full unlock for last-gen iPhones running firmware 3.0.

The instructions are nice and short:

1. Ensure you have upgraded to iPhone OS 3.0
2. Jailbreak your iPhone 3G using redsn0w or PwnageTool (this will also install Cydia/Icy)
3. Run Cydia or Icy
4. Please add the repo repo666.ultrasn0w.com to Cydia or icy
5. Search for ‘ultrasn0w’ in cydia or icy and install ultrasn0w
6. Reboot your iPhone 3G
7. T-Mobile USA users should disable 3G before using ultrasn0w
8. Enjoy

It bears repeating that this hack will not work on the iPhone 3GS, though it will work on 2G and 3G models. The Dev Team is obviously working on this, but they’re not giving any fresh indication as to when a fully compatible tool will come out.
