New Skype Version Warns on Hacked iPhone

If your iPhone is hacked and you downloaded the latest Skype for iPhone update
then you might have seen it warn you that Skype for iPhone is only supported on an unmodified iPhone OS.
iPhone Hacked Skype Warning

Fortunately, it doesn’t stop users from using Skype, it seems it only serves as a warning to inform users who have jailbroken their iPhone that Skype will not be providing support for the stability related issues. The warning will only show up once when you start up the latest update for the first time.

On a side note, the latest update fixes and improves various things:

* Improved support for calling phone numbers that don’t have a country code
* Improved error handling when making calls to landlines and mobiles, which previously may have failed if you had a monthly subscription.
* Resolved a problem with new account creation, which caused customers to be redirected to an incorrect web page, when making a purchase.
* Fixed a problem, which caused the application
to crash, when tapping a contact image (avatar) within a chat.

Skype For iPhone Now Available in the US, Has VoIP over 3G With 3.0 Firmware

Apple’s just about finished rolling out Skype for iPhone, and now US residents can go download the VoIP app for themselves.

Our quick test showed that voice quality is quite good—definitely on par or better than actual 3G calling over AT&T’s network—and connects rather quickly. It’s unfortunate that 2.2.1 doesn’t have background notifications, so there’s no way somebody could Skype you unless you had the app open all the time.

In an iPhone to iPhone Wi-Fi call test, Phone A heard Phone B perfectly clear, but the person on Phone A sounded like a robot with enunciation problems from Phone B’s side. iPhone to Laptop worked perfectly fine, however.

What’s also interesting is that voice calling only works when you’re on Wi-Fi in the 2.2.1 firmware, popping up a restriction message if you’re on 3G, but it works just fine in the 3.0 firmware. Not sure whether that’s because the 3.0 developer’s beta is less locked down, but it’s one pretty good reason to risk the upgrade. We suspect that this hole is going to be locked down REAL soon, lest AT&T lose out on a bunch of minutes.

Have2P Will Save Your Underpants One Day

I’m not being sexist: Most of the women in my life have to pee 27.3 times every hour. Or something like that. I’m getting all of them Have2P for their iPhones.

Have2P tracks every public restroom around you, giving you directions through the iPhone’s Maps application. It will also tell you what toilets are for customers—please-coffee-brb!—and what are truly public restrooms.

But most importantly, it will give you bathroom reviews. Yes, my lovelies, bathroom reviews. This thing will tell you if a restroom is so dirty that it will require you to step inside, holding to the door as if you were Spiderman, then taking off your jeans and knickers like the Great Houdini, all while trying holding your bag and coat with your neck. Or, if you are lucky, find a place so clean that will at last be able to abandon your apartment and move there.
