TabletKiosk’s Sahara i440D Slate PC

First Slate Tablet PC with Dual Pen and Touch Screen Input now widely available
TORRANCE, CA, July 30, 2007 — TabletKiosk™, a leader in mobile computing solutions, today announced that the Sahara Slate PC™ i440D featuring both pen and touch screen input, is now widely available with either Microsoft® Windows® XP Tablet PC Edition or Windows Vista® Business operating systems.
Standout features of the Sahara Slate PC i440D include:
Microsoft Adding Extra GPU Cooling to Retail Xbox 360 Elites

Apparently Microsoft has started adding extra GPU cooling to new, retail Xbox 360 elites in order to stave off overheating problems (and the three red lights) the units may be having. These added heatsinks were only previously found in refurbished Xbox 360s in Europe, which meant we were pretty much SOL. Ben Heck dismantled a new Xbox 360 and found a new heat pipe and new materials, but still thought that the cooling was a bit weak because there are no fans directly on any of the components.
USB Air-Filtering Ashtray Less Effective Than Quitting Smoking

Is your cigarette smoking habit making your desk area smell like death? Is your family complaining about getting annoying things like cancer and emphysema from your secondhand smoke? You could quit smoking, but you’ve never been a quitter. No, you’ve always been one to solve your problems with gimmicky gadgets.
The USB ashtray filters smoke from your smoldering nic sticks, keeping the air around it relatively clean. It’s not going to make the room smell like a pile of daisies, as it’s not filtering the smoke you exhale or the smoke that leaves the cigarette when it’s not in the ashtray, but it’s a start. Now maybe you’ll be able to smoke while your kid is taking a nap without your wife giving you a hard time about it. Geez, it’s just a bit of smoke! It won’t kill him, at least not for a while.
IOgear HTMI switch

If you’re thinking about dropping more than $1000 on a fancy new receiver just because it has four HDMI inputs, wait a doggone minute. This IOGear Automatic HDMI Switch has four HDMI ports going in and one going to your TV, and it’s pretty smart, too, automatically figuring out which component is on and then sending that (up to 1080p) signal directly to your HDMI-equipped TV set.
If you want to control things yourself, there’s also a remote that lets you select the source manually, and then you can also teach that remote’s commands to your universal learning (cough! Harmony! cough!) remote, too. IOGear was even nice enough to include a six-foot HDMI cable, but was a little bashful about pricing thus far. We’ll update this post with the price as soon as their reps get over their shyness attack.

HP 20″ laptop HDX “Dragon”
![]()
The HP Mobility Summit is going down in Shanghai as we speak, and they’ve just unleashed no less than 13 lappies. I don’t care about any of them as much as I care about the Santa Rosa powered HDX Dragon, previously leaked, now unveiled in all its scaly glory. The 20-inch pivot hinged monster that is built to bite Acer and Dell’s 20-inch lappies right on their ass. Beyond our explanation of what we like, two Giz friends happened to get video tours and reviews on day-zero.

Comic-Con give away 10 limited edition “The 300″ xBox 360

If you’re lucky enough to head down to Comic-Con tomorrow, you’ll get a chance to both see a special screening of 300 and enter in a giveaway to win your own 300-inspired Xbox 360. As you can see above, it’s matte black—which probably means it’s an Elite—and has Frank Miller-styled blood spatter and a profile of King Leonidas. Definitely a great limited edition console that you’ll be happy to send in to Microsoft when it eventually gets the three red rings of death.
Western Digital rolls out 2TB My Book external hard drives

Just in case 1.5TB wasn’t enough for you, Western Digital’s now gone and topped off its entire range of dual-drive My Book external hard drives with a full 2TB of storage. That includes the My Book World Edition II, the My Book Pro Edition II, and My Book Premium Edition II models, each of which appear to be otherwise unchanged from their previous incarnations. Of course, all that storage excess doesn’t exactly come cheap, with the 2TB versions of the drives running between $749 and $799 depending on the model.
