Apple Cited To Release Giant iPod touch

Word on the street has it that Apple has plans to roll out a behemoth of an iPod touch that will feature a 7″ or even a 9″ display soemtime next fall, and this will most certainly fall under the tablet category that will be powered by a scaled down version of OS X found on the current iPod touch and iPhone 3G. How do you think this rumor will play out? Is it something worth looking forward to, or will it be just hot air when it is finally released? Only time will tell, but in the meantime something like this would have a very positive factor going for it – you have the advantage of the App Store to help maximize use of your giant iPod touch. Hopefully the battery life on this rumored device is able to stand up to the rigors of everyday use.

It’s not the first time that Apple files patents related to some kind of tablet computer. It has been described as a “big iPhone”, or as a full-fledged tablet, but on the latest images, it looks like a large mobile internet device (MID). It’s probably the right format: big enough to read and use the fingers but most likely thin and light. Images in the photo gallery show different situations, including an interesting one with a virtual keyboard. If it was to be priced correctly ($500-$700), it could be attractive. Now, we need to know more about the software, apps compatibility and performance.
Nokia 6208c
The Nokia 6208c is finally official in China at least, as Nokia released it in an event today. Well, this bodes well for folks who want to write Chinese characters and messages in the most natural way possible – using a pen, of course. The entire stylus was specially designed to attach itself to the back of the phone, and the handset itself features a large color display – all the more better for you to write those Chinese calligraphy in a digital manner with flair. The entire 6208c features design cues using premium materials including a stainless steel back cover. Other functions found on the Nokia 6208c include a 3.2 megapixel camera with dual LED flash and 4x digital zoom, a microSD memory card slot and Chinese language support. It will ship to selected markets sometime in the first half of next year.
Buy and Activate an iPhone 3G At Home

AT&T is now finally offering home activation for the iPhone 3G. Before, it was necessary to go into an Apple or AT&T store for activation, That means that Xmas iPhone receipts will be much more pleasant. Interestingly, home activation only appears to be working if you order from AT&T’s website—as of this writing, Apple’s site is still directing you to the stores for purchase.
Broadcom Launches 802.11n Wi-Fi Chip For Cellphones

The new chip, which also integrates Bluetooth and FM radios, can grab 802.11n data at speeds of up to 50Mbps, and Broadcom claims it can do it all without totally devastating your battery.
While mobile browsers are far from fast enough to handle data coming in at draft-N speeds, this does open the door for some nice wireless syncing potential. The chips won’t be in phones ready for consumers until late 2009, so by then, perhaps there will be a market.
Oh, and about battery life: Broadcom actually claims that the 802.11n combo chip is more power efficient than similar 802.11g chips in phones now by allowing for single streams of data over a single antenna and packet aggregation.
Wal-Mart to Sell $99 4GB iPhone Dec. 28

Wal-Mart may be set to sell a 4GB iPhone for $99, Starting Dec. 28, the BoyGenius Website suggested Thursday. The move would mark the return of the iPhone version dropped in 2007 in favor of the 8GB iPhone.
Although BG told readers to take the tip with a grain of salt, reviving the once $399 iPhone comes as handset makers struggle against tightening consumer spending.
“Anyone looking to spend $99 on an iPhone probably doesn’t care that much about storage anyway,” according to the blog.
If true, the action would jive with analysts who have suggested Apple could cut the iPhone’s price to $99. In October, Needham Research’s Charlie Wolf said Apple’s high margins would permit a 50 percent price drop, increasing the marketshare of the already popular iPhone.
The $99 iPhone would require a two-year contract. In October, BG wrote that the iPhone would appear Nov. 15 on Wal-Mart shelves.
Scosche reviveLITE is an iPhone Charger and a Night Light

This revieLITE iPhone and iPod charger night light is one of the most amazing things I’ve seen today; and I’ve seen tens of things today.
Why do I love it so much? Because it’s an iPhone charger AND a night light. Is a further explanation necessary? The reviveLITE cradles your iPhone on its left while plugged in and illuminating your hallways and bathrooms. It’s $40, which is expensive for a night light and expensive for an iPhone charger, but not that bad for an iPhone charger that’s also a night light.
