Ultrasn0w 3.0 Unlock for iPhone 3G Ready For Download
They’ve finally delivered: the Dev Team has released the Ultrasn0w full unlock for last-gen iPhones running firmware 3.0.
The instructions are nice and short:
1. Ensure you have upgraded to iPhone OS 3.0
2. Jailbreak your iPhone 3G using redsn0w or PwnageTool (this will also install Cydia/Icy)
3. Run Cydia or Icy
4. Please add the repo repo666.ultrasn0w.com to Cydia or icy
5. Search for ‘ultrasn0w’ in cydia or icy and install ultrasn0w
6. Reboot your iPhone 3G
7. T-Mobile USA users should disable 3G before using ultrasn0w
8. Enjoy
It bears repeating that this hack will not work on the iPhone 3GS, though it will work on 2G and 3G models. The Dev Team is obviously working on this, but they’re not giving any fresh indication as to when a fully compatible tool will come out.
Enable Tethering On Your iPhone 3G and 3GS With Only Safari
Here’s an extremely easy way to enable tethering on your iPhone 3G and 3GS (even on AT&T!) by just visiting a site on your iPhone’s Safari. No jailbreaking needed. Here’s where you go:
http://help.benm.at/help.php
Then scroll down to the Tethering & Internet Settings, then choosing your country and provider. This works for both AT&T and T-Mobile, and will let you install the appropriate configuration.
Now go to your settings and enable tethering. Check the video walkthrough above to help you configure tethering.
We’ve been testing this for about a day and it’s been working quite well. Just be careful though, that AT&T doesn’t officially sponsor this and might charge you extra for using tethering while you’re not supposed to. So, keep an eye out so you’re not shafted at the end of the month.
And if this disables visual voicemail on your phone, just go and reset your network settings, and it should be fixed.
Linksys WRT160NL Is Fully Linux Powered

After years of having people load custom Linux-based firmwares onto their routers, Linksys decided to just go ahead and make a router with Linux on there from the start. Computer Science grad students are all awkwardly high fiving each other.
The guts of the machine are a 400MHz processor, 32MB RAM, and 8MB flash memory, plus two external antennas for wider coverage. You can also stream media from USB drives through the USB port to UPnP devices. It’s 802.11n compliant, of course, and will retail for $120.
Main point? That it’s Linux-based, so people can shove apps on there like BitTorrent downloaders and whatever else you can find that runs on Linux.
Jailbreak Now Available for iPhone OS 3.0, But Not for iPhone 3GS
We knew this was coming, but it’s good to know that hackers can still get into the iPhone OS so easily: PwnageTool for Mac OS X is now available for iPhone OS 3.0. Here are the details. [Updated]
• If you already have your iPhone jailbroken and unlocked, don’t try to update your smartypanties phone to iPhone OS 3.0. PwnageTool won’t unlock your iPhone. You have to wait until Ultrasnow is available for this.
• If you don’t need the unlock but want to upgrade to iPhone OS 3.0, go ahead. After upgrading, jailbreak your iPhone with PwnageTool 3.0, and keep using Cydia and your non-official iPhone apps.
• If you have an iPhone 3GS, this won’t work for you, so don’t even try it.
And like always, use it at your own risk. Update: I downloaded and tried it. It works. [Torrent file]
First Spaceport Ever Begins Construction this Friday

This newly-released image shows the sun rising over Spaceport America. It hasn’t been built yet, but construction starts this Friday. It will be the beginning of the real future, the stuff dreams are made of.*
Spaceport America will be the first spaceport in history, and it will host commercial operations by private space travel companies, like Virgin Galactic.
Can you handle this?

Dark Roasted Blend has a nice collection of strange photos of professional and amateur photographers ridiculously trying to get that elusive Perfect Shot. Here you have a few of them.
Archos 9 Windows 7 Touch Tablet
The Archos 9 Windows 7 touch tablet has made it through its first round of show floor pageantry, briefly falling into the the expectant hands of the guy(s) from ArchosFans. The mildly romantic encounter was captured on video, for posterity.
The most important piece of the Archos 9′s hardware—its 9-inch resistive touchscreen—works quite well here. (It’s on smaller screens where the difference between resistive and capacitive screen starts to stand out, but that’s another story.) The rest of the hardware, barring the alarmingly creaky “kickstand,” looks solid and attractive, especially considering the $650 price point. (No US release date yet, sadly).
Windows 7, as we know, is fairly well suited to touchscreens, though on this particular device I think the simple addition of smooth touch scrolling for IE would do wonders.
Sidenote: take a good look at this form factor, because it’s more or less what the mythical “Apple Tablet” is said to look like. I’m torn: on the one hand, I’d love to play with one, and it could be nice browsing device for the sofa; on the other, I could see getting tired of holding my hands up to the screen all the time, since it’s too big to thumb.
