  7. i think you will need ssh.. probably re-jailbreak if not.

    Cydia re-install Trial and Error.

Problem: when I click Cydia the applications opens some black background with a blue top, then it closes

    Tools: Filezilla/ SSH
    Luckily I used apt-backup thing.

Last Resort: Resort using the shift+click restore and select my firmware file in %userprofile% … somewhere in there..

Does cydia have any install in /var/mobile/applications .. I was playing around in that directory and all of a sudden Cydia died.

I ran ls –alr | egrep cydia
But it didn’t return anything so I would presume not..

    • Tried: http://www.xsellize.com/showthread.php?t=56882 remove all but “partial”
    • Ive trying removing lists
    • Tried apt-get update
    • I tried that cydia list cleanup .exe tool. Cache list cleaner
    download this software:
    http://modmyi.com/forums/downloads/w…stcache-31887/
    • I tried some method renaming some .d file or somethign
    • Cydia.deb install
    • Cydia.deb + essentials re-install
    • I tried running redsnow again twice. No effect.
    • I also tried : apt-get remove cydia
    apt-get install cydia
    • Try ipod touch in safe mode http://blog.alltechrelated.com/2008/12/25/how-to-put-your-iphoneipod-touch-into-safe-mode/ .. nope cydia still dead in safe mode.
    • Tried blacklisting cydia from backgrounder,it resprings.

    Some commands I may try
    wget http://apt.saurik.com/debs/cydia_1.0.2953-59_iphoneos-arm.deb
    • dpkg -i cydia_1.0.2953-59_iphoneos-arm.deb

    Fix Cydia crashes and defects
    http://www.xsellize.com/showthread.php?t=34550

    • re-install cydia tutorial http://efeion.blogspot.com/2008/09/uninstall-and-reinstall-cydia.html
    • check /var/mobile/library/installer via SSH
    • 1- apt-get remove Cydia in terminal

2- if the package is physically gone, you can remove it from installer by editing the installed packages file which is root/var/mobile//Library/Installer/LocalPackages.plist (thru SSH)

    3- ctrl+F then type Cydia

4- remove everything between and include the tags
    it’s about 630 lines.

    5- save your changes.

6- shut down iphone then power on again.
    solved:

delete everything that starts with apt.bigboss in /private/var/lib/apt/lists
    (http://modmyi.com/forums/cydia-support/677756-cydia-crash-3gs-after-install-updates-lockscreen-weathericon.html)

    1) ssh to the iPhone, and do a “cd /Applications/Cydia.app”
    2) I did a “./Cydia” but nothing happened
    3) but then I did a “./Cydia_” and I tapped the Cydia icon, and …!!!… IT LAUNCHED!!!

It rebuilded the /var/lib/apt/lists that I have deleted and it was A-OK

  9. I had the same problem, but then I downloaded the latest Cydia from here

    cache.saurik.com/debs/cydia_1.0.3044-65_iphoneos-arm.deb

then i placed it in the root directory using SSH then I typed in the terminal “dpkg -i cydia_1.0.3044-65_iphoneos-arm.deb”

    It’s working perfectly now.

    Thanks.

  11. Ahmed THANK YOU SO MUCH!! its actually “dpkg -i /cydia….” but i followed the entire first guide and tried doing this and searched the whole web for the deb file but never found it! I actually had to do this because i tried doing the thing where you use xslimmer to trim up cydia apps but when i did it with cydia it made it crash on start and same with rock (didnt check if rock works now but i can just reinstall it from cydia)

….but i still have one slight problem…. after cydia and rock werent working i decided to just use installerapp on my mac and downloaded some updates which included a mobile substrate update and since then my iphone 3gs 3.1.2 has been stuck in safe mode and every time i try to respring or reboot it goes back to safe mode. Any ideas? should i try to reinstall mobile substrate from cydia? or should i try installerapp again since cydias working now? Please help!

  15. Ahmed, thanks! But, in the console, it freezes at “Setting up cydia (1.0.3044-645) …”, do you know why?

  17. For me, Cydia started crashing upon loading. So I used a small tool called ClearCydiaListCache, which fixed the issue. You can download it from http://www.mediafire.com/?3tnb3mmymjw Only thing is you need a Windows PC with .NET framework. Hope this helps.

  19. @Lahiru, it won’t work for me, I click the button, and then the program won’t respond.

  21. Yeah! Finally, Cydia works again =D

    1. Connect & ssh to your iPhone and iPod Touch

    2. Now go to /private/var/lib/apt/lists

    3. Delete all the files in /root/private/var/lib/apt/lists/ except for the partial subfolder.

    Do not delete Partial folder
